3 Islands Marathon Hebrides Solo / Community Individual entry
About the Event
Set against the stunning backdrop of Scotland's Outer Hebrides, this certified marathon offers runners an unforgettable journey through some of Britain’s most rugged yet breathtaking landscapes. The race begins at Lochboisdale Marina on South Uist and concludes at Dark Island Hotel in Benbecula. Participants have several options to suit their preferences: solo runners can tackle the full 26.2-mile distance, while pairs or teams of three or four can compete as relay squads over four legs ranging from 5.8 miles to 7 miles each. Relay runners will change at designated checkpoints along the route, adding a strategic element to the competition. A unique feature of this event is the Community Teams category, where individual entrants have the chance to be randomly selected into teams that cover all four legs collectively. This random draw takes place one week before race day and offers additional prizes for the top three finishing teams regardless of gender composition. Solo runners who find themselves unable to complete the full distance close to race day can opt out of their original entry and join a Community Relay Team, running either one or two legs as part of a randomly assembled squad. Solo competitors will vie for individual male and female first, second, and third place prizes, along with awards in various veteran categories. The event has a strict six-hour cut-off time to ensure all runners can complete the course safely within this timeframe. Runners predicting a finish time of five hours or more must start at 9am instead of the regular starting time of 10am. Registration is now open, but entries received after April 26th may not guarantee your requested t-shirt size due to pre-ordered supplies for earlier registrants. Early bird refunds are available until March 31st; thereafter, no refunds will be issued as a gesture of goodwill towards the event's commitment and support. This marathon promises an authentic Scottish experience with its scenic coastal paths, challenging terrain, and supportive community atmosphere. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to challenge yourself in one of Scotland’s most picturesque locations. Join us for a day filled with camaraderie, breathtaking views, and the thrill of competition amidst some of Britain's finest natural scenery.
