Allegheny Cycling Association Wednesday Night Criterium Week 16: Oval
About the Event
Experience the dynamic energy and thrilling atmosphere at the 2026 ACA Wednesday Criterium Series, held every week on Wednesdays. The series kicks off with three exciting races catering to various categories of cyclists. The first race targets Masters Cat 1/2/3/4 enthusiasts, setting a competitive tone right from the start. Followed by two additional races for Men's Cat 3 and 4 in the second event, and then Men’s Cat 4 and 5 in the third round. Each race promises to be an intense test of skill and endurance. A notable change this year is that registration fees have been reduced by $5 per race for ACA members, encouraging participation while supporting local racing in Pittsburgh. Joining as a member before registering can secure you these discounts and further benefits. For young racers aged 18 and under, the opportunity to get an annual USAC license comes with added perks. Beginners are encouraged to opt for an annual membership instead of just a one-day license, ensuring they remain competitive throughout the season. Women have unique opportunities as well; they can race in men's fields, but one category down—such as Cat 3 women racing in the Men’s 4/5 field. The BikeReg system automatically notifies ineligible registrations to prevent confusion, though if you find yourself in this situation and wish to compete, please register despite the notification. All Category 5 (Novice) racers must secure a one-day USAC license on race day, while all other participants are required to have an active USA Cycling license. Minors competing need parental or guardian signatures for their USAC One Day License Form. The races promise close competition and high payouts in fields of over 20 cyclists, with increased prize money to the top five racers this season. The event offers a perfect blend of challenge and camaraderie, making it something special for every seasoned cyclist eager to push themselves further.

About Pittsburgh
Learn more about the host city, Pittsburgh.
The pleasure of Pittsburgh remains a well-kept secret. Though not built up by reputation, the city's unique combination of bridges, steep hills, and broad rivers make it one of the most naturally scenic cities in the country. Cheap food and beer abound in this true sports town and the locals are amazingly friendly. A city of about 303,000 (2021) in Allegheny County, at the center of a metro area of about 2.4 million in southwestern Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh is situated at the confluence of three rivers: the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers, which meet to form the Ohio River. The city's unique terrain has resulted in an unusual city design and a hodge-podge of unique neighborhood "pockets" with diverse ethnic and architectural heritage. Pittsburgh has a rich history and, for its size, an unusual array of cultural treasures, largely thanks to the wealth that was generated when Pittsburgh was a hub of industry.
