Alta Rocca Trail, set to take place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, invites runners and hikers alike to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Quenza. This third edition promises an unforgettable experience with a variety of trails that wind through the Alcudina massif in southern Corsica, offering stunning views from sea level up to towering peaks. Participants will have four options: two trail runs and one hiking route, each designed for different levels of expertise. The event features routes ranging from 10 kilometers to an exhilarating 28-kilometer trek that challenges even the most seasoned athletes with its elevation gain. Nestled in the heart of Corsica's rugged terrain, these trails offer a unique blend of alpine vistas and coastal scenery. The U Ghjiru di Quenza is ideal for beginners looking to explore the area around Quenza. This 10-kilometer loop takes runners through charming hamlets before returning them to the picturesque church square in Quenza. The trail starts at 10:00 AM, while a non-competitive hike begins shortly after. For those seeking more adventure, I Furchi offers a scenic journey along the jagged peaks and valleys of Bavella. At 17 kilometers with nearly 900 meters of elevation gain, this route is perfect for runners looking to test their endurance on challenging terrain. The race starts at Bavella but participants can catch a shuttle from Quenza. The most ambitious option, L'Alcudina, stretches over the entire massif and includes an ascent up to Cuscionu Plateau, culminating in one of Corsica's iconic mountain passes. At 28 kilometers with more than 1600 meters of elevation gain, this trail is a true test for experienced runners who are ready to push their limits. In addition to the main events, there’s also a fun race for children called Challenge Paul Orsatti, which takes place at 2:30 PM. This event offers young participants an opportunity to run laps around Quenza in a safe and supportive environment tailored to different age groups. To ensure everyone can participate comfortably, shuttle buses are provided from Quenza to Bavella on race day for both I Furchi and L'Alcudina runners. Pre-registration is required for these shuttles during the sign-up process. Upon completion of their respective courses, participants will be greeted with a buffet lunch and access to free showers at the finish line in Quenza. Spectators are encouraged to reserve tickets online if they wish to enjoy the post-race meal as well. This year’s Alta Rocca Trail promises an unforgettable journey through some of Corsica's most stunning natural landscapes. Whether you're a seasoned runner or someone looking to explore new terrain, there is something here for everyone.
