BEYOND MANCHESTER - 55KM ULTRA & 25KM TRAIL RUN EARLY BIRD PRICES

Step into the untamed wilderness beyond Manchester's bustling streets and immerse yourself in BEYOND MANCHESTER, an exhilarating trail run presented by WILD DEER EVENTS on September 4th, 2027. This isn't just a race; it’s an adventure that takes you far from the cityscape into lush greenbelts and hidden corners of Greater Manchester.
The event offers two routes: a challenging 55km ultra trail run and a scenic 25km trail run, both starting in Cathedral Gardens, promising runners an unforgettable journey through diverse landscapes. The longer route begins with a winding path along the Manchester Ship Canal before venturing into Salford Quays and past iconic landmarks like the BBC buildings and Old Trafford.
As you progress further out of town, the 55km course transitions from canal paths to disused railway tracks, leading runners north through Bolton and east towards Bury. The route then winds back through Eccles along the Irwell Sculpture Trail, offering breathtaking views over the valley before returning into Manchester’s heart for a final stretch that showcases its rich history with cathedrals and law courts.
The 25km run shares similar beginnings but diverges after Salford Quays. It follows the Bridgewater Canal past the Imperial War Museum North until reaching Eccles, where it meets the River Irwell before heading back into Manchester for a grand finish among historical buildings.
Both routes feature fully signed paths and chip timing to ensure precision in your journey. Runners will enjoy feed stations stocked with refreshments, medical support, and toilet facilities along both courses. The 55km route includes three such stops while the shorter course has one major checkpoint midway through its path.
Participants receive a bespoke finishers medal and access to Wild Deer merchandise as part of their race package. Additionally, each runner will have GPS files for navigating these scenic routes with ease.
The event’s start line is located in Cathedral Gardens at Corporation Street, Manchester M4 3BG, where registration opens early morning. The staggered starts begin at 7:00am and 10:00am respectively for the longer and shorter courses.
