CBTE Blencathra Marathon

The Blencathra Marathon invites experienced fell and trail runners, as well as avid fell walkers, to tackle its challenging 26.4-mile circular route that winds through some of the Lake District's most breathtaking terrain. Nestled near Caldbeck, this race offers a unique blend of rugged mountain paths and lush valleys, with an elevation gain just shy of 6000 feet.
Participants will traverse five iconic Wainwright summits during their journey: Bowscale Hill, Blencathra, Mungrisdale Common, Knott, and High Pike. The route is meticulously designed to test runners' endurance while offering stunning views at every turn. As you navigate the challenging terrain, you'll experience a mix of steep ascents and technical descents that make this race truly unforgettable.
Upon completion, racers will receive a finisher's medal and t-shirt as tokens of their accomplishment. The event also provides essential amenities such as two water checkpoints along the route to keep participants hydrated throughout the day. At the end of your journey back in Caldbeck, you'll be greeted with snacks and hot drinks, ensuring that you can refuel after an intense race.
The atmosphere at Blencathra Marathon is energized by enthusiastic volunteers and race directors who are eager to see each runner cross the finish line. Parking is conveniently available in the village for participants arriving by car.
Competitors have until 9:00 PM on race day to complete their journey, with cut-off times ensuring everyone's safety. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female runners as well as non-binary athletes who cross the finish line first.

Registration opens at 7:15 AM with check-in closing by 8:45 AM before the start time of 9:00 AM.
