Immerse yourself in the scenic trails of the Colne Valley, where diverse landscapes offer an unforgettable running experience. The route winds through picturesque towpaths and bridleways before ascending Slaithwaite Moor for breathtaking views across moorland, bogs, and woodland.
As you conquer the challenging climb to Cupwith's summit, the descent becomes a thrilling race down towards the finish line at Zapato Brewery, where runners are greeted with well-deserved refreshments. The 6-mile course, which covers approximately 9.7 kilometers, includes an elevation gain of nearly 1000 feet (300 meters) and is primarily composed of rugged trail terrain.
Participants will appreciate the fully marshalled route that guides them through each section without requiring navigation skills. While no specific kit requirements are enforced, sturdy trail shoes are highly recommended for tackling this varied landscape.
The event celebrates achievement with trophies awarded to first-place male and female runners, as well as prizes for top three finishers in both categories. Age group awards further enhance the competitive spirit among participants.
Course records stand at an impressive 36:58 minutes for males (set by Martin Howard of Calder Valley Fell Runners) and 47:56 minutes for females (Helena Croft from Holmfirth Harriers AC). These benchmarks provide a challenge for runners aiming to break new ground in future races.
