Denby Dash Junior Races 2026

Celebrate a decade of racing fun at this year's Denby Dash, a charming village race that welcomes runners and their families to enjoy the scenic beauty around Denby. The event offers two junior races for kids up to 16 years old alongside the main senior dash.
The Denby Gallop invites children aged up to 8 (with those under 6 needing an adult escort) on a picturesque 1-mile loop through tracks and fields, featuring a steep climb of about 140 feet before finishing with a thrilling sprint back home.
For older kids from 9 to 16 years old, the Pirate Ship Challenge is designed as a more adventurous 2-mile course that winds through conservation land and open fields, culminating in an exhilarating ascent up a steep hill of approximately 240 feet leading directly to a pirate ship. The descent back home provides runners with a fast-paced finish.
Both race routes are clearly marked and well-supported by marshals ensuring safety and guidance throughout the event. All junior participants will be treated to ice cream from Yummy Yorkshire upon crossing the finish line, adding an extra layer of joy for young racers.
Medals will be awarded to the top three boys and girls in each category as well as special recognition for the first U6 participant in Denby Gallop and the first-place winners in specific age groups within the Pirate Ship Challenge. Additionally, there's a prize for the best fancy dress costume at both races, encouraging creativity and fun.
After the race, families can enjoy live music and refreshments at The George Inn, creating an atmosphere of celebration and community spirit on this Bank Holiday Monday.
Pre-entries close at 8pm on Saturday, August 29th, with same-day entries welcome for juniors who wish to join in person. This event not only promises a day filled with excitement but also supports the Denby Village Conservation Group's efforts to preserve and enhance local natural areas.
