The 67th edition of the Dukla Peace Run invites runners from around the globe to experience one of Slovakia's most cherished annual events. Set for September 6, 2026, this race offers participants an unforgettable journey through stunning landscapes and historical sites. Starting at Vyšný Komárnik with its poignant memorial dedicated to soldiers who fought in World War II, runners will follow a scenic route that winds down to Nižný Komárnik. The course then takes them across picturesque Poľana before climbing up to Hunkovce and continuing through Ladomirová until reaching the finish line at Svidník. The main event features a challenging 20-kilometer race, with categories for both male and female runners divided into age groups from 18-70+. The course is designed not only as a test of endurance but also to celebrate peace. Participants must adhere strictly to the rules set by the organizing committee, which are in line with international athletic regulations. Registration for this year’s race will be exclusively online until September 3, 2026, at 11:59 PM local time. No on-site registrations or payments of entry fees will be accepted after that date. Once registered and paid, participants receive an email confirmation. It's important to note that runners under the age of 18 must have parental consent. In addition to the main race, there are shorter events for inline skaters (6.5 km), walkers (6.5 km and 1.2 km), and climbers, all offering competitive opportunities with cash prizes awarded to top finishers in each category. These races include designated walking zones where participants can enjoy a peaceful route alongside historical landmarks. The race day is also filled with activities for the entire family, including live jazz music performances starting at 10:15 AM, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event. Results will be available online after the conclusion of the run on the official website www.svidnik.sk. For those who qualify through various achievements or age categories, there are exemptions from entry fees and special recognition awards. The race organizers aim to provide a memorable experience that honors peace while celebrating athletic achievement in one of Slovakia's most scenic locations. This event not only tests runners' physical limits but also immerses them in the rich history and culture of Svidník, making it an unforgettable journey for all participants who choose to take part.
