Glenmore 24 Trail Race 2026

About the Event

Glenmore 24, an epic trail running challenge set against the backdrop of Scotland's scenic Highlands, invites endurance enthusiasts for a grueling yet rewarding adventure. The race takes place over two days, starting at noon on Saturday and concluding at lunchtime on Sunday in Glenmore Forest near Aviemore.
Competitors have the option to tackle either a 12-hour or a full 24-hour course, both of which wind through breathtaking forest trails surrounding Loch Morlich. Participants will loop around a scenic 4-mile circuit starting from Hayfield and passing by the serene waters of the loch. For those aiming for distance records, it's essential to complete each lap before time runs out; otherwise, incomplete laps won't count towards your final tally.
The event offers runners an additional option: during the last hour, they can opt to run a shorter 400-meter loop instead of continuing on the main trail. This segment is meticulously measured using a measuring wheel and contributes fully toward recorded distances.
Runners will have their own dedicated support crew at Hayfield, which serves as both a race hub and a sanctuary for rest and recovery during breaks from running. Crew members can set up aid stations around the perimeter tap to provide runners with essential supplies like food, water, and medical assistance on each lap. Twelve-hour competitors are allowed one crew member, while those participating in the 24-hour event may have two.
The race's location near Loch Morlich ensures a stunning natural setting but also presents significant challenges due to its unpredictable weather conditions. Temperatures can drop sharply overnight, with past races seeing lows of -2°C to -5°C and facing gusty winds, rain, hailstones, or even snow. Organizers will provide a detailed medical kit list and recommended equipment guide three weeks before the race date to ensure all participants are prepared.
Participants must familiarize themselves thoroughly with safety guidelines provided in pre-race briefings; ignorance of these rules is not an acceptable excuse for non-compliance.
Registration fees include a 30-day cooling-off period during which withdrawal incurs only a £15 administrative charge. Beyond this window, refunds decrease progressively: up to 12 weeks before the event date, runners can receive half their entry fee back; thereafter, no refund is available.

This thrilling endurance challenge offers a unique blend of scenic beauty, mental fortitude testing, and physical prowess in one of Scotland's most captivating landscapes.
