Welcome to the Heymooth Tae Hill & Back, an inspiring charity cycling event organized by the Rotary Club of Eyemouth and District alongside Malawi Fruits. This memorable challenge offers cyclists the chance to explore some of Scotland's most scenic and tranquil roads while supporting both local charities in Eyemouth and international efforts through Malawi Fruits. The historic village of Eyemouth, affectionately known as Heymooth, serves as the starting point for two distinct routes: Heymooth Gowkie Cuts: A 40-mile journey that combines rolling countryside with a couple of significant climbs. This route is perfect for those who are less experienced or prefer not to commit to the longer challenge within an eight-hour window. Heymooth Mony-Nutter: For seasoned cyclists, this 70-mile adventure features over 1,797 metres of elevation gain and presents a serious test of endurance and skill. The route is renowned for its challenging climbs that reward riders with breathtaking views across the Scottish Borders. Both routes begin at Eyemouth High School where ample free parking is available. Cyclists can choose their start time between 8am and 10am, ensuring they finish by 5pm to stay within the event's schedule. A sweep vehicle will follow behind the last participants to ensure everyone’s safety throughout the day. The event features comprehensive support services including timing systems, friendly volunteers stationed at various points along the route for assistance, rescue vehicles should any emergency arise, and well-stocked feed stations offering sandwiches, home-baked treats, bananas, and energy bars. A donation of £40 is requested to contribute directly to charity efforts; participants can also opt to raise additional funds through sponsorships. The Heymooth Tae Hill & Back promises an unforgettable experience with its stunning landscapes and supportive community atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned rider or just starting out, there's something for everyone in this picturesque setting. For those looking to extend their cycling adventure beyond the borders of Eyemouth, consider entering one of our partner events such as the Tayside Challenge, Ayrshire Alps, or Highland Perthshire Challenge. Join us and be part of a day that not only tests your limits but also makes a positive impact on communities in need.
