Irish BYU Championship 2026

About the Event

Hellevation Running presents The Irish Championship, an endurance race like no other. Scheduled to start promptly at noon, the competition unfolds over multiple hours with runners tackling a 4.17-mile loop around Florence Court's picturesque paths and forests every hour until only one remains standing.
The course winds through serene landscapes, beginning on flat terrain before gently rising into the woods for the halfway mark. From there, it descends all the way to the finish line, offering both scenic beauty and varied elevation challenges that test runners' stamina and pacing skills.
Each participant has exactly one hour to complete a lap; those who fail to do so are out of contention. Only fully completed laps count towards overall distance totals, with no pacers allowed except for fellow competitors in the race. This format ensures fair play while fostering camaraderie among participants pushing each other to keep going.
Every runner receives a medal upon completion, but only one champion will emerge as "The Last One Standing," earning the title of Irish Champion 2026 and eternal glory within the running community. Additionally, any athlete who logs an impressive 100 miles across multiple hours enters the exclusive Hellevation Running 100 Mile Club, securing a coveted hoodie to commemorate their achievement.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Florence Court, this event promises not only physical challenge but also a rewarding experience for runners seeking both personal milestones and community recognition.

About Fermanagh

Learn more about the host city, Fermanagh.

Scenic view of

Historically, Fermanagh, as opposed to the modern County Fermanagh, was a kingdom of Gaelic Ireland, associated geographically with present-day County Fermanagh. Fir Manach originally referred to a distinct kin group of alleged Laigin origins. The kingdom of Fermanagh was formed in the 10th century, out of the larger kingdom of Uí Chremthainn, which was part of the overkingdom of Airgíalla. By the late 11th century it had grown to cover all of what is now County Fermanagh. The kingdom came to be ruled by the Mag Uidhir (Maguire) clan from the late 13th century onward. They were based at Lisnaskea, and their royal inauguration site was nearby Sgiath Gabhra (Skeagoura), now called Cornashee. Under Hugh Maguire, Fermanagh was involved in the Nine Years' War against English rule. His successor, Cú Chonnacht Óg Mag Uidhir, was one of the Gaelic Irish leaders who fled Ireland during the Flight of the Earls. Fermanagh was subsequently merged into the Kingdom of Ireland as County Fermanagh.
