Join Ranger Expeditions for a guided hike up Kinder Scout on August 12th, where you'll have an unparalleled view of this awe-inspiring phenomenon from atop one of Derbyshire's most iconic hills. As the eclipse begins at approximately 6:17 PM, your knowledgeable guide will lead you to a serene spot with panoramic views.
The evening culminates in a hilltop celebration that features a delightful buffet served by Ranger Expeditions’ expert staff. Enjoy an assortment of savory and sweet treats, including both vegetarian options and meat-based dishes, complemented by refreshing drinks like coffee, hot chocolate, and tea provided from insulated flasks to maintain safety standards set forth by the Peak District PSPO for wildfire prevention.
The event starts at Bowden Bridge with a meet-up time of 4:15 PM. The walk begins promptly at 4:30 PM and culminates in witnessing the eclipse's peak around 7:13 PM, when up to 90% of the sun will be obscured by the moon. As twilight deepens post-eclipse, there is ample time for exploration before returning down the hill.
Participants are advised to bring sufficient water and personal snacks as part of their day pack, along with appropriate clothing suitable for varied summer conditions on the moors. For safety reasons, CE Certified Solar viewing eye protection will be provided by Ranger Expeditions upon arrival at Bowden Bridge.
This exclusive guided walk accommodates a maximum of eight guests, ensuring an intimate and personalized experience that maximizes enjoyment while minimizing environmental impact.
