Kinder Scout Trek To The Source

Embark on an enchanting journey along the River Kinder, tracing its course from where it meets the River Sett at Hayfield to its very source high atop the Kinder Plateau. This 15km (approximately 9.3 miles) trek is a leisurely adventure that takes you through some of Derbyshire's most picturesque landscapes.
Your day starts early with a meet-up in the car park before setting off on your walking route at 8:30 AM. As you follow the river upstream, you'll pass by local landmarks and historical sites such as the Fairy Bridge, where folklore whispers tales from centuries past. The path winds through dense woodlands, revealing plunge pools and cascading waterfalls that add to the natural beauty of this tranquil setting.
The heart of your adventure lies on the Kinder Plateau, a vast expanse dotted with deep valleys known locally as cloughs. Here, you'll navigate rocky terrain and steep inclines en route to finding the river's source at its true summit. The descent is equally captivating, offering more scenic vistas and photo opportunities that capture the essence of this unique journey.
Led by an experienced local Hayfield Mountain Leader, your group will never exceed eight guests, ensuring a personalized experience with ample time for exploration and reflection on the stunning scenery around you. This guided trek offers not only breathtaking views but also insights into the rich history and mythology surrounding these rivers and their surroundings.
The day concludes back in Hayfield village by 4 PM after approximately nine hours of walking and exploring. Participants should come prepared for varying weather conditions with appropriate clothing, footwear, and a rucksack packed with essentials like water, snacks, and extra layers to stay comfortable throughout the trek.
Photos taken during your adventure will be made available via Ranger Expeditions' social media platform for you to download at no additional cost. If photography is not something you're interested in, simply inform your guide on the day of the walk.
While dogs are welcome companions elsewhere, they are not permitted on this particular guided tour due to practical considerations and safety regulations.
