The Rafford Village Hall serves as the hub for this ambitious 30-mile challenge, inviting participants to embark on an unforgettable journey through Scotland's picturesque landscapes. The route is meticulously designed to offer a blend of challenging terrain and scenic beauty, starting from the serene village of Rafford.
Participants will traverse forestry tracks and sections of the Dava Way before heading towards Forres along coastal paths and sandy beaches at Roseisle access point. From there, the path winds south through country lanes past Alves Village Hall to Heldon Hill. The return journey takes runners back via Califer Hill, providing a mix of forest trails and open countryside.
To ensure safety and accessibility throughout the route's tidal sections, walkers begin their adventure early in the morning at 8am, while joggers and runners start later at 10am. This staggered timing allows for optimal checkpoint management without compromising on participant experience or safety measures.
Manned checkpoints will be set up at strategic locations: Findhorn and Alves Village Hall, offering essential refreshments such as drinks and snacks to keep energy levels high throughout the journey. The finish line awaits back at Rafford Village Hall where a hot meal is ready for all who complete their challenge.
Participants can look forward to receiving goody bags and certificates upon crossing the finish line, commemorating their achievement in style. For those traveling by public transport, organizers encourage registration details on the entry form so that transfers from Forres (where rail and bus services are available) can be arranged accordingly.
