Lakeland Paws: Dogs@ Dodd

Welcome to the fifth season of our beloved series, featuring nine exciting events this year. Each race begins at 9am with individual starts for all participants, ensuring that every dog can start safely and comfortably on their own terms.
The Dodd Wood course offers a unique blend of forest roads and trails, winding through scenic landscapes. This particular route takes runners up to the summit of Dodd before descending along wide trails offering breathtaking views across Derwentwater and the Coledale Fells. While most sections are spacious enough for two dogs per runner, some narrower paths require careful navigation. The final descent is steep, so it's crucial to maintain a pace that suits both you and your canine companions.
All participating dogs must wear a suitable harness throughout the race. Runners without dogs are equally welcome to enjoy this challenging yet rewarding course.
Two route options are available: an 8K loop with 370 meters of elevation gain for those seeking a more demanding experience, or a shorter 5K option with 210 meters of ascent that avoids some of the steeper climbs and is ideal for beginners looking to ease into the race.
The event features chip timing and clear markings along the course. Additionally, GPX files can be downloaded in advance to help runners plan their route more effectively.
