Join us on the opening weekend of May for our Grand Finale Canicross Races at Whinlatter Forest, Dodd Wood, and Grizedale Forest. This marks the fifth season of exhilarating runs through these picturesque landscapes.
The races kick off early Saturday morning with individual starts to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both you and your canine companions. The course is designed as an 8K loop featuring rugged forest roads and scenic trails that wind through dense woodland, offering stunning views at every turn. For those looking for a more manageable challenge, we also offer a shorter option of 5 kilometers with less elevation gain.
The terrain varies from wide-open paths to narrower sections where careful navigation is key. As you make your way down the steep final descent, it’s crucial to maintain control and let your dog set the pace rather than pushing too hard yourself. All dogs must be equipped with a suitable harness; we have Non Stop Dog Wear's high-quality gear available for those who need to borrow one.
Whether you're an experienced canicross enthusiast or just starting out, there is something here for everyone. The event features chip timing and clear signage along the route, ensuring accurate results and easy navigation throughout your run.
