Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Double Header

Lakeland Paws Season 5 culminates with its final race, part of an exciting double-header weekend that also features the season prize giving ceremony. This is your chance to cap off another successful racing year and celebrate alongside fellow runners.
The course takes you on a challenging route up Seat How's summit, offering breathtaking views across the Lakeland landscape. The ascent includes some narrower trails with steeper inclines, making it essential for participants to bring their dogs in suitable harnesses if they choose to participate with them. Non Stop Dog Wear provides harnesses that can be borrowed at no cost.
There are two course options available: an 8K (5 mile) loop and a shorter option of 5K (3 miles). The longer route features a summit climb, reaching the peak of Seat How before descending via forest roads and trails back to the visitor center. This challenging trek includes 360 meters (1200 feet) of ascent. For those seeking an easier run or looking for their first taste of Lakeland Paws events, there's also a shorter option that avoids the summit climb but still offers scenic views along forest paths with 240m (800ft) of elevation gain.
Participants can walk as much as they like and there are no time cut-offs. The event is fully marked for navigation ease, and chip timing ensures accurate results. Additionally, GPX files are available to download should you wish to plan your route in advance or track your progress during the race.
