Returning for its second year, the Minninglow March offers runners and fast walkers an exhilarating journey through the picturesque Derbyshire Dales countryside. Starting from the charming village of Parwich, just north of Ashbourne, this circular route spans approximately 17 miles with a challenging elevation gain of around 2,000 feet. Participants will navigate using either GPS-enabled devices or traditional map and compass techniques across public rights-of-way, well-trodden trails, and open access land. The event introduces an engaging element: "The Quest," where runners must collect cards from two specified points along the route and deliver them to the finish line in Parwich for a chance at spot prizes. Three aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course to help participants refuel and recharge their energy: - Aid Station 1, located just past the three-mile mark on the High Peak Trail, offers essential refreshments after an initial climb. - Aid Station 2 comes into view around nine miles in, situated before a steep descent known as "The Cliff" leading down towards Carsington Village. - The final aid station at Bradbourne Church provides sustenance for that last push to the finish line. With a six-hour overall cut-off time (3 PM on Sunday), participants should be prepared to maintain an average pace of about three miles per hour over varied terrain, including hills and trails. Mandatory kit must be carried by all entrants as specified in event guidelines available online. While dogs are not permitted to join the race for safety reasons, this family-friendly event welcomes both runners and fast walkers looking to explore the scenic beauty of Derbyshire's rolling countryside. Held under UK Athletics Rules with TRA License number 8431, the Minninglow March promises a memorable day out for all who participate. For more details about entry requirements or additional information on "The Quest," visit our official webpage. Participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with mandatory kit lists and navigation guidelines ahead of race day.
