About the Event

Nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of Mount Robson Provincial Park lies the Berg Lake Trail, a renowned hiking destination that has now transformed into an exhilarating running route with the annual Mount Robson Marathon. Following devastating floods in 2021, this year’s event promises to showcase the trail's stunning beauty and rugged terrain once again.
The marathon offers four distinct distances: the Ultra Marathon, Half Marathon, Kinney Lake 12km run, and Flatlander 5km race. All events begin at the Mount Robson Welcome Centre and follow a scenic out-and-back route along the Berg Lake Trail, with water stations strategically placed to keep runners hydrated.
The Ultra Marathon traverses the entire length of the trail, leading participants through diverse environmental zones. The highlight is undoubtedly the Valley of a Thousand Falls section, where in just 5 kilometers, runners will gain an impressive elevation of 825 meters. This challenging stretch showcases cascading waterfalls and lush forests before reaching the turnaround point near Berg Lake’s picturesque shores.
For those seeking a more manageable distance, the Half Marathon offers a stunning route up to Kinney Lake along mostly well-groomed trails. Runners will enjoy panoramic views as they reach their turnaround point on the gravel flats above Kinney Lake. The Kinney Lake 12km run provides a similar experience but with an earlier turnaround at the outflow bridge.
The Flatlander 5km race, in contrast, is designed for runners who prefer flatter terrain. It begins along wide open roads near the Mount Robson Welcome Centre before transitioning to gentle trails that introduce participants to the trail’s beauty without excessive elevation gain.
Adding a touch of fun and inclusivity, there's also a free Kids’ Fun Run around the Mount Robson Info Centre during race day. This event ensures that all ages can enjoy the spirit of running in this majestic setting.
