Nolan's SMILE Run returns to Windsor, Ontario on Saturday, August 8th, 2026, honoring the memory of Nolan Trepanier through a community gathering that supports his foundation.
The event kicks off at Malden Park in Windsor. Early morning dew will cling to the lush greenery and soft trails as participants gather for this annual tradition. This marks the seventh year that the run has taken place, having grown in popularity each time it returns. With over 1000 participants registered last year alone, this event not only celebrates Nolan’s memory but also raises funds for his foundation, ensuring its legacy lives on within the community.
The course takes runners through Malden Park's firm and slightly soft terrain, offering a mix of gentle inclines and flat stretches. The route includes notable features such as the winding paths and scenic overlooks that make this park unique. For those opting to run longer distances, the 10k offers a more extended journey with its varied landscape.
Participants will start at Malden Park, where chip timing is provided by W.R.A.C.E., ensuring accurate results for all runners. The course features two aid stations along the way, offering hydration and support during the race. As the finish line approaches near Malden Park's entrance, participants can look forward to receiving their medals.

To secure a spot and guarantee a tech shirt, register by July 24th. The registration fee for the in-person event is CA$50.81 for both the 5k Run and 5k Walk, while virtual participants pay the same amount. For the 10k, the cost is CA$56.20. Kids Dash participants can register at a reduced rate of CA$23.83.
Race day registration and bib pick-up will be held from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM on race morning, with cash or e-transfer accepted as payment methods only. Don't forget to bring your ID for identification purposes if required by the run club.
The starting point is located at Malden Park in Windsor, Ontario. Participants must be 14 years old or older to join the 5k Run and 10k Run; however, all ages are welcome for the Kids Dash. First-timers should ensure they have their race number, timing chip (if applicable), and any club affiliation details if team participation is desired.

About Windsor

Windsor is a mid-sized Canadian city on the southwest tip of Ontario. It's an extremely multicultural city with over 20% of its population having been born outside of Canada. The city's rich cultural background is evident in its Middle Eastern, Italian, and Asian neighbourhoods. Just across the Detroit River from Detroit and the American border, it's one of the very few places where you have to go south to enter Canada. Its main waterfront park stretches about 5 km (3.1 mi), from the 1929 Ambassador suspension bridge past the contemporary Windsor Sculpture Park. It ends near the 1894 Italianate Canadian Club Heritage Centre, which recalls when Windsor was a source for liquor smuggled to the Prohibition-era states.
