The Ochil 2000s race offers runners an exhilarating journey through Scotland’s rolling hills and rugged landscapes. Spanning a challenging 33 kilometers, this course ascends to a remarkable elevation of 1770 meters, making it a true test for endurance athletes. Starting at the picturesque Glen Sherrup car park in Glen Devon, participants will navigate their way towards the summit of Innerdownie Hill before tackling a series of peaks. Key checkpoints are positioned on Whitewisp Hill and Tarmangie Hill, followed by Kings Seat Hill, where runners must reach by 13:30 to stay within schedule. The race continues with visits to Andrew Gannel Hill, The Law, Ben Cleuch, Ben Buck, and finally Ben Ever before the cutoff at 14:45. After this point, athletes will move on to Blairdennon Hill and Colsnaur Hill, setting their sights on Dumyat as the final objective. In addition to these prominent hills, there’s an extra checkpoint near Menstrie just before runners tackle the climb up Dumyat. This course is designed not only for physical prowess but also for mental resilience, with each summit offering a moment of triumph and breathtaking views across the Ochil Hills. Participants are advised to carry essential kit that will be checked prior to boarding coaches at Stirling University’s sports center. Registration begins at 9:00 in a tent near the first road junction after the main university entrance, where transport is arranged for runners heading to Glen Sherrup car park. An early start option is available at 11:30. For those unable to register ahead of time but still interested in participating, entry on race day can be accommodated with a £20 fee if space allows on the coaches.
