The Trossachs Trundle, organized by the Heart of Scotland LDWA local group, is an exhilarating 22.4-mile challenge that winds through the picturesque landscapes of the Scottish Highlands. This circular route begins and ends at Kirk Hall in Callander, offering participants a journey around Loch Venachar with stunning views and challenging ascents. The event kicks off from the heart of Callander, where walkers and runners will ascend to Bracklinn Falls, followed by an ascent over Callander Crags. Here, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas of Ben Vorlich and Stuc a' Chroin in one direction and Loch Venachar and Ben Ledi in another. After descending through the other side of Callander, participants join the Rob Roy Way to reach Bochastle at 7.6 miles. From there, you'll continue westward along the Great Trossachs Path above Loch Venachar until reaching Brig o'Turk (13.7 miles). The route then turns back towards Callander via Achray Farm and Black Water, where a stop for some unique goat milk ice cream is highly recommended. Returning to Kirk Hall through Coilhallan Wood marks the final stretch of this scenic adventure. Much of the course follows well-maintained tracks, paths, and private roads, ensuring that even less experienced hikers can enjoy the event's natural beauty while tackling its significant elevation gain of 3,350 feet (1,020 meters). Registration opens at 8:00 am with a start time of 9:00 am. For those who prefer to take their time and explore more leisurely, an additional starting window is available from 10:30 am onwards. Participants must leave the Brig o'Turk checkpoint by 3:15 pm to ensure they complete the course before the finish line closes at 7:00 pm. This event not only tests your endurance but also offers a chance to immerse yourself in Scotland's rich natural heritage, making it an unforgettable experience for all who participate.

About Callander
Learn more about the host city, Callander.
Callander is a small town in Stirlingshire in the Central Belt of Scotland. Tourist publicity calls it "The Gateway to the Highlands" and for once that over-used term is correct: the town sits right on the lowland-highland fault line, with crags looming just north of town, and streams racing out of the mountains to form the River Teith. Gaelic was spoken here until about 1900. The main reason to come is to see The Trossachs, the eastern part of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
