Embrace the stunning beauty of the River Mersey as part of the Phoenix Afterglow, the concluding chapter in this year's Summer Series on Saturday, August 22nd. This timed event offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore Chorlton Water Park at your own pace and comfort level. The course is a picturesque out-and-back trail that stretches over a distance of 5.3 kilometers (3.28 miles). Participants can choose from various distances ranging from the 5km mark all the way up to ultra-marathon lengths, giving runners flexibility in their race strategy. Whether you're looking for a leisurely stroll or an intense endurance challenge, this event caters to every level of runner and walker. The terrain is flat with minimal elevation changes along riverside towpaths, making it ideal for those seeking a smooth run amidst natural beauty. The course winds through Hardy Farm in Chorlton Water Park, offering runners breathtaking views of the River Mersey throughout their journey. For participants pushing beyond just one lap, there's an aid station stocked with vegetarian and vegan-friendly snacks such as bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake varieties, squash, full sugar cola, ensuring that everyone stays fueled during this 7-hour window. However, those with severe allergies should consider bringing their own food to avoid any risks of cross-contamination. Registration opens at 7:30 am on the day, allowing runners ample time to prepare before setting off anytime between 8 and 12 o'clock noon. All participants must finish by 3:30 pm, ensuring a comfortable pace for all competitors regardless of their chosen distance. This event also supports The Animal Sanctuary in Wilmslow through donations; every entrant contributes £1 towards this worthy cause. So not only are you challenging yourself physically but also making a positive impact on the community and beyond. To accommodate everyone's needs, parking is available at Hardy Farm for 75 cars (first come, first served), with additional space across the river in Sale Water Park accessible via a short walk through scenic trails. Changing facilities and toilets will be provided at Race HQ to ensure convenience throughout your race day experience. Join us as we celebrate this final installment of our Summer Series – Phoenix Afterglow awaits! Don't miss out on collecting another stunning medal while enjoying one last run with fellow enthusiasts in the warm embrace of Chorlton Water Park.

About Manchester
Learn more about the host city, Manchester.
Manchester is a vibrant, post-industrial gem at the heart of North West England. The city that used to be nicknamed 'Cottonopolis' has hung up its clogs and, thanks to successive regeneration projects, is now a major centre for culture and commerce; seen by many as the capital of the north of England, and sometimes regarded as England's second city.
