Sheepy Shuffle 2026

Immerse yourself in the whimsical world of 'A Scottish Sheepy Shuffle,' an enchanting virtual race that celebrates Scotland's rich heritage and its love for rescued sheep. This unique event, organized by Andy Bailey from The Mirkwood Rest Home for Retired Sheep—a sanctuary dedicated to rescuing and rehoming sheep—offers runners a delightful choice between two distances: the half marathon (13.1 miles) or the 5K.
Participants can embark on their chosen route at any time throughout July and August, allowing flexibility in planning your run around personal schedules and scenic routes of preference. The event encourages participants to combine running with walking if needed, ensuring that all runners feel comfortable and safe during their journey.
Upon completion of either distance, racers will receive a bespoke 7cm zinc alloy medal featuring an adorable sheep adorned in tartan—a symbol of Scotland’s cultural pride. Each medal comes with a unique ribbon reflecting the distance covered: a distinctive design for half marathon participants and another for those tackling the 5K challenge.

Once you’ve completed your run or walk, log back into Total Race Timing to manually enter your finishing time along with a link to Strava or Garmin for verification purposes. While the race offers flexibility in timing and location, safety remains paramount. It is recommended to wear hi-viz clothing if running on roads or crossing them, carry water and snacks as needed, and choose safe times of day based on weather conditions.
