Immerse yourself in the picturesque beauty of Goathland, nestled within the North York Moors National Park, and participate in the SilverBackTrails Goathland V (5) Trig Challenge. This unique adventure invites both solo runners and walkers as well as pairs to explore a self-navigated course spanning approximately 37 miles. The event begins at the charming Village Hall of Goathland, known for its role in the popular television series "Heartbeat." Participants will embark on an exciting journey through varied terrain, encountering stunning vistas and challenging hills. The goal is to visit five specific Triangulation Pillars scattered across designated public rights-of-way within the park. Prior to the event, participants receive detailed information about checkpoint locations and a suggested route with GPX files for planning purposes. However, there's an added element of surprise: one mystery checkpoint will be revealed only when you reach it on course day. The navigational aspect is designed to cater to both novice and experienced adventurers; teams can collaborate if navigation isn't their forte. The terrain offers a mix of challenges that are sure to test your endurance while rewarding you with breathtaking views at every turn. Participants must carry essential kit, including items like headlamps for potential night running or walking. Support from outside is not allowed, ensuring the challenge remains solely focused on individual and team capabilities. With 15 hours allotted to complete this ambitious route, participants will need to be prepared for both daylight and nighttime conditions. Upon completion, all finishers receive a medal and certificate commemorating their achievement. A hot meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options awaits at the Village Hall after crossing the finish line, providing a welcome respite from your journey. Entry fees are £35 for solo participants or £70 per pair, limited to 65 total entries. Optional XCover insurance is available should circumstances prevent you from participating on race day. Join SilverBackTrails in Goathland and experience an unforgettable adventure through one of Britain's most captivating landscapes. Registration opens at the Village Hall starting at 7:30 am, with a mass start promptly following at 8:35 am. Due to limited parking near the hall, participants are advised to park in designated village car parks. For those interested in commemorating their achievement further, technical T-shirts can be purchased for £18 from SilverBackTrails' club shop on www.summitcrazy.co.uk. Participants must ensure they have all necessary equipment and adhere strictly to the rules regarding kit checks throughout the event. This ensures safety while preserving the integrity of this unique challenge. Experience the thrill, beauty, and camaraderie that await in Goathland's Trig Challenge – an adventure not soon forgotten.
