Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon MMXXVI invites runners to explore one of England's most captivating landscapes. Nestled within the North York Moors National Park, this 13.1-mile trail race offers an unforgettable journey through forest tracks and heather-clad moorlands. The centerpiece of Othnesbery’s Revenge is its climb up Roseberry Topping—more famously known as Othnesbery in ancient Norse lore—a hill that boasts a distinctive profile visible for miles around. Participants will face the challenge of ascending this iconic peak three times, each ascent adding to the allure and difficulty of the course. The race begins at 08:45 after registration opens at 08:00 am on the day. With only 50 spots available, runners must secure their entry in advance as no entries are accepted on-site. The event is strictly for those aged 16 or older and offers a unique opportunity to experience the park's beauty firsthand. The route features steep ascents and descents that test endurance while offering breathtaking views of purple heather fields during August. Runners must carry essential safety gear, including waterproof clothing, emergency food supplies, and navigation tools such as OS maps or locate apps like what3words on their mobile phones. A checkpoint along the way provides water, fizzy drinks, snacks, and sweets to keep participants fueled. Upon crossing the finish line, all runners receive a bespoke medal and an achievement certificate featuring a notable part of the route. An optional technical T-shirt is available for purchase at £18 from Summit Crazy's SilverBackTrails club shop. Participants are advised to park in the car park below Roseberry Topping where registration takes place; however, they must cover their own parking costs. Dogs are welcome but must remain on a lead throughout the event and start after human runners due to safety concerns. Othnesbery’s Revenge Half Marathon promises an authentic trail experience with no bells or whistles—just stunning scenery and challenging terrain that will leave participants talking long after the race is over.
