In its 24th year, the Stebbing 10 Mile Race returns on Remembrance Sunday, offering runners an engaging and scenic route through Essex's picturesque countryside. Hosted by The Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners, this award-winning event takes place on November 8th at 11:00 AM in the quaint village of Stebbing.
The race starts with a two-minute silence to honor those who have served their country, followed by the official start at 11:02 AM. Participants will traverse a gentle undulating course that combines quiet country lanes and some farm tracks, providing an enjoyable challenge for runners looking to test their endurance on varied terrain.
This event is celebrated not only for its competitive spirit but also for its inclusive atmosphere. Runners can expect local support from the community along the route, enhancing the overall experience with a sense of camaraderie and respect for tradition. The race has been recognized in previous years by receiving the Howard Williams Trophy for best road race in the Essex AA area.
Each finisher receives a bespoke commemorative medal inspired by Remembrance Sunday, adding to the event's unique charm. Leading runners are rewarded with trophies and prizes, while there is also a £100 cash prize up for grabs for anyone who breaks the course record (Male 51:52 / Female 58:01).
All proceeds from this race go directly towards supporting the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, which helps serve members of the Armed Forces and their families through various hardships.
