Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and aquatic adventure converge. Nestled along the picturesque shores of Lake Windermere’s tranquil waters, this venue offers an idyllic setting for swimmers of all levels. Upon arrival at the Jetty, you'll find a dedicated area equipped with storage boxes for belongings should the weather turn chilly or rainy. A friendly staff member will greet you and provide any necessary instructions before your swim. Tow floats are available to borrow on-site, enhancing safety during your aquatic journey. Wetsuits can be rented by prior request at an additional cost of £10 but aren’t kept on site for immediate use upon arrival. The jetty is not large enough to accommodate everyone changing simultaneously, so it’s recommended to arrive in swimwear or change quickly near your vehicle. During the summer months, swimmers have the opportunity to complete various badges such as "My First Swim" and "My First Lap." In winter, participants can earn a special badge for swimming through colder conditions. Safety kayakers patrol the waters; if you encounter difficulties during your swim, simply lie on your back, raise an arm, or use your tow float to signal for help. The lake is marked with buoys indicating circuits of approximately 400 meters each, and four laps make up a mile. Swimmers are advised not to venture between blue buoys near the shore due to potential fishing lines in shallow water areas. Facilities at Wyresdale Park include ample parking spaces for vehicles as well as an overflow car park accessible via Gubberford Lane. The Applestore Café offers refreshments, and toilets can be found outside behind the café with additional indoor facilities nearby. For those traveling by bus, Stagecoach 40 from Preston Station to Cabus Gubberford Lane provides a convenient route, taking approximately 45 minutes. We hope you enjoy your experience at this serene location and the beauty of Lake Windermere’s waters.
