Swim - Wyresdale Park (01/12)

About the Event

Nestled in the picturesque Wyresdale Park, this unique open-water swimming event invites participants to embrace the serene beauty of its tranquil lake. Upon arrival at the jetty, swimmers are greeted by staff who will issue instructions and provide necessary equipment such as tow floats for safety. Wetsuits can be hired on request but must be reserved in advance due to limited availability.
The swim route offers scenic views across the expansive lake, marked with buoys that indicate a circuit of approximately 400 meters per loop, totaling one mile after four circuits. Swimmers are advised to avoid shallow waters between blue buoys and the shore where fishing lines may pose hazards. Tow floats are mandatory for all participants to enhance visibility and safety.
Facilities at Wyresdale Park include parking near the main entrance and an overflow lot accessible via a woodland footpath leading directly to the lake. The Applestore Café offers refreshments, while toilets are situated behind the café both inside and out. Swimmers should arrive dressed in swimwear or change discreetly within their vehicles.
For those traveling by car from Preston, take Gubberford Lane off A6, crossing over a bridge into Snowhill Lane where Wyresdale Park awaits. From Lancaster, follow Station Lane to Six Arches Caravan Park before turning onto Daisy Clough Nurseries and up Snowhill lane towards Scorton. Bus options are available via Stage Coach 40 from Preston Station.
Participants can connect with the event on social media for updates and photos or leave a review on Trust Pilot after their swim experience at Wyresdale.
