Nestled in the tranquil beauty of Wyresdale Park, this unique open-water swimming event promises an unforgettable aquatic adventure. As soon as you arrive at the jetty on November 10, 2026, you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will provide essential instructions and ensure your safety. The jetty serves both as a starting point and storage area for personal items like towels and shoes. Tow floats are available to borrow here if needed, offering an extra layer of buoyancy and security in the water. Although wetsuits can be hired by prior request, they won't be kept on site at the event. The lake itself is home to a series of marked circuits during summer months, each approximately 400 meters long—perfect for swimmers aiming to complete miles without getting lost or disoriented. However, please avoid swimming between blue buoys and the shore as this area marks shallow ground used by anglers, where you might encounter fishing lines. Safety is a top priority: if you find yourself in difficulty during your swim, simply lie on your back, raise an arm for help, or use your tow float to signal distress. Safety kayakers are always nearby to assist. After your swim, dry off and warm up at the Applestore Café located just left of the jetty entrance. Additional toilets can be found outside behind the café and inside a building further right. For those driving in, parking is available near the main entrance with an overflow lot accessible via Gubberford Lane after crossing a small bridge. Participants should arrive dressed for swimming or change quickly at their vehicles as there are no formal changing facilities on site. The route to Wyresdale Park from Preston involves taking A6 and turning onto Gubberford Lane, while those coming from Lancaster can take Stagecoach bus 40 towards Cabus Gubberford Lane for a convenient drop-off point.
