Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and tranquility come together for an unforgettable open-water swimming experience. Nestled along serene waters, this picturesque venue offers a perfect setting for swimmers of all levels. Upon arrival at the jetty, leave your belongings in designated storage boxes or use hooks on the fence if it's raining. A friendly staff member will greet you and provide any necessary instructions regarding tow floats, which are available to borrow free of charge. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request for an additional £10. Swimming circuits around 400 meters each allow participants to gauge their distance easily; four laps make up a mile. Throughout the summer months, swimmers have the opportunity to earn badges such as "My First Swim" and "I Swam Through Winter." Safety is paramount: if you need assistance during your swim, raise an arm or shout for help—safety kayakers are always nearby. Swim with caution near blue buoys marking shallow areas used for fishing. Wetsuits are optional but bright-colored hats are recommended to ensure visibility in the water. Tow floats are compulsory and can be borrowed at no extra cost. Facilities include ample parking, a café for refreshments after your swim, and toilets located both outside behind the café and inside nearby buildings. Changing facilities aren’t provided on-site, so please arrive dressed or change discreetly within your vehicle. For those traveling by car, clear directions are available from Preston and Lancaster via Gubberford Lane and Snowhill Lane. Bus enthusiasts can reach Wyresdale Park using Stagecoach 40 from Preston Station to Cabus Gubberford Lane. Join us at this serene location for a swim that combines the beauty of nature with the camaraderie of fellow swimmers.
