Nestled along Snowhill Lane near Scorton, this scenic venue offers a serene setting for swimmers of all levels. Upon arrival at the jetty, leave your belongings in storage boxes or hang them on hooks provided if it’s raining. A friendly staff member will greet you and provide any necessary instructions. Tow floats are available to borrow, enhancing safety during your swim. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request for an additional £10. The lake is dotted with buoys that mark circuits approximately 400 meters long—four laps make a mile. Be cautious of the blue buoys near shore as they indicate shallow ground used for fishing; avoid swimming between them and the shoreline to prevent entanglement in fishing lines. Swimmers are encouraged to use bright-colored hats or bobble hats, especially during winter months, to enhance visibility. Parking is available at Wyresdale Park, with an additional overflow lot accessible via a small bridge. The Applestore Café offers refreshments nearby, along with outdoor and indoor restroom facilities. Changing rooms are not provided on-site; swimmers should either arrive in swimwear or change quickly near their vehicles. For those traveling by car from Preston, follow Gubberford Lane over the bridge and turn left into Scorton village before continuing up Snowhill Lane. Alternatively, take Stagecoach bus 40 from Lancaster Station to Cabus Gubberford Lane for a scenic journey that takes about 45 minutes.
