Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and swimming enthusiasts come together for an unforgettable aquatic adventure. Set against the backdrop of serene lakeside scenery, this venue offers both tranquility and challenge. Upon arrival at the jetty, you'll find storage boxes for your belongings in case of rain or hooks on the fence if needed. A friendly staff member will greet you here, ready to provide any necessary instructions and issue tow floats which are available for borrowing. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request but aren't kept onsite. During summer months, swimmers have the opportunity to complete a range of badges such as "My First Swim" or "Swimming Through Winter." The lake is divided into 400m circuits marked with buoys during warmer weather, making it easy for you to track your distance. It's crucial to avoid swimming between blue buoys and the shore due to shallow fishing grounds. Safety measures are in place: if you encounter difficulties while swimming, simply lie on your back, raise an arm, or use a tow float to signal for help; safety kayakers will promptly assist you. Brightly colored hats are recommended for increased visibility, especially during winter months when bobble hats can add warmth and style. Facilities include ample parking near the Applestore Café where toilets are located both outside behind the café and inside adjacent buildings. An overflow car park is available just past the main entrance over a small bridge to the left of the lake's woodland footpath. Please note there are no changing facilities on-site, so arrive in swimwear or change discreetly at your vehicle. Detailed directions for driving from Preston involve taking A6 then Gubberford Lane and Snowhill Lane; alternatively, bus services like Stagecoach 40 can take you to Cabus Gubberford Lane directly. We look forward to your visit and hope you enjoy this unique swimming experience in a beautiful natural setting. We encourage reviews on Trust Pilot if you have an enjoyable time at our venue.
