Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Southwestern Ontario this fall with The Talon Trail Races presented by BackRoads Brews + Shoes. Scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, runners and walkers will explore one of the region's most captivating trail systems along the Ausable River. The event offers a diverse range of courses to cater to all levels of experience and ambition. The signature 26 km point-to-point course winds through Joany’s Woods and Mystery Falls, showcasing mature forests, river valleys, technical singletrack trails, and scenic countryside. This challenging yet rewarding route begins at Mystery Falls and concludes in the heart of Joany's Woods. For those seeking shorter distances, three looped options are available: a 3.3 km walk, a 7.7 km walk/run, and an 11 km run that combines both loops. All these routes start and finish at the main gathering area, fostering a lively and welcoming atmosphere for participants of all ages. Each participant will receive a race t-shirt upon registration along with access to aid stations offering water and snacks throughout their journey. Finish times are provided for those completing the 7.7 km, 11 km, and 26 km courses. Additionally, runners can enjoy one complimentary post-race beverage from BackRoads' beer garden. The event is more than just a race; it's an opportunity to support conservation efforts in Southwestern Ontario through partnerships with the Thames Talbot Land Trust and Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. By participating, you contribute directly to preserving the natural landscapes that make this area so special. To ensure everyone’s safety and minimize environmental impact, all participants must park at West Williams Community Centre (32217 Kerwood Rd., Parkhill, ON N0M 2K0). Complimentary shuttle buses will transport runners and spectators to and from Joany's Woods or Mystery Falls. Shuttle schedules are designed to accommodate various start times for both races and social visits. Join us this October as we celebrate the beauty of Southwestern Ontario’s trails with a day filled with running, walking, food, drinks, and community spirit. The Talon Trail Races promise an unforgettable autumn adventure, combining physical challenge with environmental stewardship. Whether you're seeking personal bests or simply enjoying nature's splendor, this event offers something for everyone to cherish.
