Celebrate Canada Day with a unique and exciting triathlon experience at Victoria Park, along Charlottetown's picturesque waterfront. This inaugural Kids of Steel Triathlon (KOS) is perfect for young athletes who are ready to tackle their first race or looking to refine their skills. The event offers a swim in the pool followed by a bike ride on a fast and flat paved route that runs alongside the charming Charlottetown boardwalk. The run will take you through a closed road parallel to your cycling path, ensuring safety for all participants. Registration is open until June 30th at 5 PM; spots are limited to just 60, so sign up early! Check-in begins at 7:15 AM and continues till 7:50 AM. During this time, kids will receive their markings and bibs while bikes and gear are brought into the transition zone. The race starts promptly at 8:00 AM with an introductory clinic for participants in the first wave. To participate, all children must be members of Triathlon PEI, Triathlon NS, Triathlon NB, or Triathlon NL. Annual memberships can be purchased online through their official website. Please note that family members are not allowed in the transition zone or on the race course during the event; however, volunteers from Triathlon PEI will assist and support the kids. The distances for each age group are as follows: - 4-5 years: Swim - 25m (1 length), Bike - 500m, Run - 100m - 6-7 years: Swim - 50m (2 lengths), Bike - 1km, Run - 400m - 8-9 years: Swim - 100m (4 lengths), Bike - 2km, Run - 800m - 10-12 years: Swim - 200m (8 lengths), Bike - 5km, Run - 1km For families with multiple siblings, a discount is available. Enter the information for "Participant #1" and click "ADD ANOTHER PARTICIPANT." Once all participants have been added, complete the checkout process. Children under 7 are encouraged to wear floaties or lifejackets during the swim portion of the race. Training wheels can be used on bikes if needed.
