About the Event

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Casinca Trail offers runners an exciting array of routes through the picturesque and rugged terrain of Corsica. This year’s edition features several updates to familiar courses while introducing a brand-new challenge for seasoned trail enthusiasts.
The event kicks off with two shorter distances: the A Frezza at 6 kilometers and the A Sciapppale at 12 kilometers, both offering significant elevation gains that cater to those looking for an intense but manageable experience. Participants in these races will depart from Penta-di-Casinca village square on Saturday morning.
For a more ambitious undertaking, the Altagna race presents a formidable challenge over its full distance of approximately 40 kilometers with nearly 2150 meters of elevation gain. This grueling route can be tackled either solo or as part of a relay team. Both formats start early in the morning to ensure runners have ample daylight for the ascent and descent through varied landscapes.
The highlight this year is undoubtedly the newly introduced loop that takes participants across all seven villages comprising Casinca, culminating at Sant’Anghjulu’s summit at 1218 meters above sea level. This unique journey showcases not only the physical demands of trail running but also the rich cultural heritage and stunning vistas of Corsica.
All races conclude back in Penta-di-Casinca where runners will be greeted with refreshments, including local beer from Pietra Brewery, to celebrate their achievements. The detailed race regulations provide crucial information about timing constraints along each route, ensuring a fair yet challenging experience for all competitors.
Whether you’re seeking the thrill of conquering rugged trails or simply enjoying scenic routes through charming villages, the Casinca Trail offers something unforgettable for every level of runner.
