Nestled within the vast and captivating Stockholm Archipelago, which comprises over 30,000 islands of varying sizes and shapes, lies Finnhamn. This island is an idyllic setting for swimrunners, offering a mix of rugged terrain, serene beaches, and lush greenery that make it one of Sweden’s most beloved destinations for this unique sport.
Finnhamn SwimRun, presented by Wolffwear in collaboration with the local archipelago community, promises to deliver a memorable experience across three distinct distances: Experience, Sprint, and Half. Each distance is crafted to cater to different levels of expertise while immersing participants in the island’s breathtaking landscapes.
The FINNHAMN EXPERIENCE (5 km) offers an introductory course ideal for beginners or those who want to enjoy the scenery at a leisurely pace. This route features six running sections totaling 4.3 kilometers, with the longest run being 1.5 kilometers and five swimming sections where the longest is 210 meters.
For more adventurous athletes looking for a challenge, the FINNHAMN SPRINT (13.5 km) provides an exciting mix of technical trails and scenic views over 13 segments. Participants will face approximately 1,500 meters of swimming across 12 sections, with the longest run being 3.8 kilometers and the longest swim stretching to 320 meters.
Scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM, Finnhamn SwimRun is part of both the Sweden Swimrun Sprint Series and MySwimrun Championships. The event offers a myriad of benefits including discounted entry fees when participating in multiple races within these series.
Competitors can look forward to on-site amenities such as changing rooms, storage facilities, and showers upon arrival. Equipment rentals are also available for those who need them; wetsuits, pull buoys, and paddles can be rented at a cost of 295 SEK per item.
Finnhamn is easily accessible by private or public boat from Stockholm, with travel time taking approximately two hours via Cinderella boats or the Waxholm Line routes.
Post-race celebrations include a complimentary meal prepared on-site, along with additional discounts and benefits for participants staying at Finnhamn accommodations using the code SWIM. A mandatory equipment package can be ordered upon registration for 150 SEK to ensure safety during the event.
Safety is paramount; medical staff and rescue boats are stationed throughout the course to assist as needed. Hydration stations along the route provide sports drinks and water, ensuring participants stay hydrated in this challenging yet rewarding environment.
