Welcome to the Gosfield Lake Triathlon & Multisport Event, hosted by Born2Tri at the picturesque Gosfield Lake resort near Braintree and Halstead, Essex. This renowned open water swimming venue offers an inviting backdrop for athletes of all levels on July 26th, 2026. The event features a Standard Relay Triathlon with distances including a 1500m lake swim (two laps), followed by a challenging yet fast undulating cycle course of 40km (four laps), and concluding with a scenic 10km run back to the finish line at Gosfield Lake. Participants can expect an engaging experience that combines both natural beauty and competitive excitement. The cycling route is designed for speed, traversing rural roads through picturesque villages such as Sible Hedingham, Blackmore End, and Beazley End. The running portion aims to provide a new out-and-back course in 2026, though if an alternative cannot be secured, the previous year's looped course will remain available. The event offers a spacious transition area located conveniently on the lake shore, ensuring easy access for all participants. Each competitor receives chip timing and a finisher medal upon completion of their race. Additionally, relay teams can look forward to receiving trophies for first-place overall finishes. Entry is limited to 300 competitors who must be at least 18 years old by race day. All races will adhere strictly to British Triathlon rules, requiring participants to wear approved cycle helmets and ensure that bicycles are in safe mechanical condition. Participants not holding a current membership with the British Triathlon organization may purchase a 'race pass' for insurance coverage. Born2Tri is committed to sustainable practices, incorporating measures such as recycling initiatives, reduced use of bib numbers, and redistribution of unused race supplies to local charities. Detailed course maps and route adjustments will be communicated in advance through email updates approximately two weeks before the event date. For those interested in training or joining swim sessions at Gosfield Lake outside of this event, additional information can be found on Born2Tri's website and the Gosfield Lake Open Swimming Facebook page. In case of unforeseen circumstances that affect race day conditions, the organizers reserve the right to alter routes or postpone events as necessary. Refunds will not typically be provided if an event is canceled due to factors beyond their control; however, changes made up until four weeks before the race date are eligible for refunds minus a £10 administration fee. Join us at Gosfield Lake on July 26th and experience one of Essex's most anticipated multisport events.
