Stromness 10K Event Saturday, July 25th, 2026 - 11:00 AM The Stromness 10K is set to take place on the scenic island of Orkney, offering runners a challenging and picturesque course that winds through local roads. The event kicks off at the Ferry Road near the ferry terminal, where participants will register before setting out for an exhilarating run. Entry fees are £6 for members of the Orkney Athletics and Running Club (OARC) or Scottish Athletics Federation (SAF), while non-members can enter for £11; however, those who join OARC on race day can secure their spot at a discounted rate of £8. This annual event is sanctioned by SAF, ensuring that all participants adhere to the sport's governing regulations. The course itself is not suitable for wheelchairs or runners with buggies and pets due to its challenging terrain. Participants must be 15 years old on race day to take part in this invigorating run through Stromness’s historic streets and scenic coastal areas. No changing facilities will be available at the event site, so athletes are advised to come prepared for a seamless transition from registration to the starting line. Online entries close on Sunday, July 19th, 2026, giving runners ample time to secure their spots before race day. Should you find yourself unable to participate, your entry can be transferred to another individual up until this date by contacting the Race Organiser via email with details of the new runner. To help participants prepare for the course, detailed route maps are available on Strava or through OARC’s Facebook page and website (https://www.orkneyarc.org.uk/). These resources provide a comprehensive overview of what to expect during this exciting race weekend in Stromness. For any additional information about the event, including details on accommodations, local attractions, and more, runners are encouraged to reach out via OARC's social media channels or website for assistance from dedicated volunteers and organizers.
