Run Dunlop is set to return as an inclusive community event for all ages and abilities on Sunday, September 6th, 2026. This family-friendly race offers both a 5km fun run and a shorter 2km option designed specifically for younger participants. The route begins at Kirkland Road and takes runners through the heart of Dunlop Village along Main Street, Stewarton Road, and Newmill Road past the train station before heading up Trindlegreen towards Uplawmoor. For those tackling the full distance, the 5km run will turn around at the T-junction near the top of Trindlegreen while participants in the shorter race will turnaround earlier along a route marked by marshals. The event is designed to be accessible and welcoming for all levels of runners. Tail walkers are on standby to ensure no runner gets left behind, making it an ideal choice for beginners looking to take their first steps into competitive running or seasoned athletes aiming to set new personal bests in the Trindlegreen area. Prams, scooters, pushchairs, and dogs on leads are welcome during the 2km run, ensuring that families can participate together. Registration will be held at Dunlop Playing Fields from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM for both races. The 2km race starts promptly at 2:00 PM followed by the start of the 5km event at 2:30 PM. Online entries are available with early bird discounts and will close on Friday, September 4th, at midnight. Upon completion, all participants receive a medal funded by the Dunlop Gala team along with refreshments including water cups, cake, and bananas donated by ELF bothy. There’s also an array of prizes to be won and coveted house tokens up for grabs organized by Mrs Nouillan and local pupils. The Miller family has generously provided bales for a festive podium area where achievements will be celebrated. Proceeds from the race go towards supporting Dunlop Primary School's entire student body on their summer school trip in 2027, with additional funds donated to the 23rd Ayrshire (Dunlop) Scout Group as chosen by the pupils. For those unable or unwilling to participate but still wish to contribute, donations can be made via a GoFundMe link. Participants are reminded that this is not a closed road race and should bring their own water for the route since none will be provided along the way. All runners must stay on the left side of the course as it's an out-and-back event format. Safety measures include first aiders being present throughout, with competitors taking part at their own risk.
