About the Event

Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty of Aberdeenshire during the Saltire 24, scheduled for June 19-20, 2027. This ultra-endurance trail running event takes place at Knockburn Sports Loch, an idyllic outdoor sports facility nestled within the picturesque Knockburn estate.
Competitors have three race options to choose from: a full 24-hour challenge starting on Saturday morning and concluding early Sunday morning; a more manageable but still demanding 12-hour option that wraps up late Saturday evening; or for those looking for an afternoon adventure, there's a six-hour run. Each lap covers a distance of 4.2 miles through the estate’s meticulously marked trails.
Participants aiming to achieve the prestigious century mark—running exactly 100 miles in 24 hours—are encouraged by the event layout, which allows them to complete one full lap every hour. Safety is paramount at the Saltire 24; fixed and mobile marshals will be stationed throughout the course, ensuring runners' well-being.
For those wishing to camp during the event weekend, limited serviced camping spots are available near Knockburn Loch. Peripheral support is provided in the Sports Academy base area, along with access to shower facilities located next to the conference center.
The Saltire 24 welcomes all athletes regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, offering a truly inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and supported. All portaloos are designated as gender-neutral, allowing participants to use whichever side they feel most at ease.
