The 50th edition of the Sevenoaks Circular Challenge is set to captivate runners with its scenic routes and challenging ascents, offering an immersive experience through West Kent's picturesque landscapes. This year marks a significant milestone for this beloved local race, which welcomes participants from across the region. With entries opening on October 1st, 2026, aspiring competitors have their chance to secure one of the limited spots available—only 225 runners will be admitted into what promises to be an unforgettable event. The challenge is particularly demanding for those opting for the longest route: a grueling 30 miles with over 4200 feet of ascent that must be completed within an 11-hour timeframe. The race features three distinct routes, each offering unique terrain and breathtaking views of West Kent's rolling hills and woodlands. Participants can expect indoor checkpoints along all routes where they will find essential refreshments like tea, coffee, cold snacks, and hot food at the finish line to sustain them through their journey. Race day begins early with a prompt start from West Heath School on Ashgrove Road in Sevenoaks (TN13 1SR) for both the 30-mile and 20-mile routes at 8:00 am. A later departure time of 10:00 am is reserved for those tackling the shorter, yet still challenging, 14-mile route. Fast walkers or runners aiming to complete the longer distances in under four miles per hour can choose a more flexible start between 8:00 and 10:00 am. This flexibility allows participants to strategize their pace according to checkpoint opening times while ensuring they stay on track with the event's strict deadlines, all finishing by 7:00 pm. Entry fees include not only participation but also complimentary refreshments at both start and finish lines. In addition, food and drinks are provided throughout the checkpoints, where runners can enjoy a moment of respite before pushing onward through Kent’s scenic countryside. A certificate will be awarded to those who successfully complete their chosen distance within the designated time limits. However, it's important for all participants to note that dogs are not permitted at this year's event due to school regulations regarding ground use. To ensure safety and success on race day, runners should come prepared with appropriate footwear and clothing as well as a printed route description, maps, compasses, and torches if finishing after 5:00 pm.
