The 20th Hangover Hike

Embark on an invigorating journey through the scenic landscapes of Dewsbury with The Irregulars, organized by the LDWA. This winter adventure offers three circular routes measuring 10 miles (16 km), 17 miles (27 km), and 21 miles (34 km). All paths converge at a central refreshment station where runners can adjust their distance on the spot if desired.
Registration takes place from 8:00 am at The Leggers Inn, located in Mill Street East, Dewsbury. A mass start is scheduled for 9:00 am with an additional late start option at 10:00 am exclusively for those opting to complete the shorter route of 10 miles.
Detailed maps and GPX files are available on the LDWA website (www.ldwa.org.uk/TheIrregulars), ensuring participants have access to accurate information. It's crucial to download these materials in December as the course has been updated recently.
Participants should bring their own mugs for refreshments along the route, which include tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, and a finisher certificate upon completion of your chosen distance. The event organizers encourage all runners to carry essential equipment such as waterproofs, warm clothing, suitable footwear, maps, compasses, whistles, and torches due to winter conditions.
For those seeking sustenance post-event, the Leggers Inn offers reasonably priced food alongside a selection of real ales for participants to enjoy. It's important to note that while refreshments are provided at checkpoints, individuals with dietary restrictions or allergies must take responsibility for their own safety regarding consumption.
The Irregulars welcomes both LDWA and non-LDWA members but stipulates that under-18s should either be LDWA members or accompanied by a parent/guardian. Additionally, all dogs participating in the event must remain under constant control throughout the course.
