Welcome to the Doonhamer 10K Road Race, an exhilarating run organized by Dumfries Harriers set for Sunday, August 30th, 2026. This scenic race begins and ends at Dock Park, nestled beside the picturesque River Nith in Dumfries. Participants will enjoy a certified course that winds along the river’s edge, crossing it multiple times via historic bridges such as Buccleuch Street Bridge, Suspension Bridge, and Kirkpatrick MacMillan Bridge. The route is officially measured to ensure accuracy, providing runners with an authentic 10K experience. Entry fees are £18 for SA/EA/WA affiliated members and £20 for non-affiliated participants. Each registration includes chip timing, a water stop on course, first aid support, kilometer markers, thorough marshaling along the route, parking options near Dock Park or nearby car parks, and access to toilet facilities. In addition to competitive prizes awarded to 1st through 3rd place male and female runners as well as veteran categories (VET 40, VET 50, VET 60, VET 70), every finisher will receive a unique souvenir medal. This year’s event also offers the opportunity to purchase an official technical t-shirt for just £10. Entries are limited to 290 participants and close on Saturday, August 23rd at 6:30 PM or earlier if sold out. Pre-race registration is mandatory; no entries will be accepted on race day. Transfers between runners can be arranged via Entry Central but T-shirt selections cannot be changed. Race day starts with early morning activities like the Junior Parkrun for children aged 4 to 14, beginning at Dock Park around 9:30 AM. The main event registration tent opens promptly at 8:30 AM where participants collect their race numbers and timing chips before preparing for the run ahead. A brief pre-race briefing will commence at 10:25 AM followed by a ceremonious start at 10:30 AM from Dockfoot, marked clearly with flags and timing equipment. The route is marshaled throughout its entirety to ensure safety, featuring lead bicycles and sweepers for additional security measures. Runners should note that headphones or earbuds are not permitted during the race due to safety concerns. Participants must remain attentive to instructions given by course marshals at all times. After crossing the finish line in Dock Park, runners will be greeted with water, a goody bag, and their unique medal. A professional first aid team is on standby for any medical needs that arise post-race. Prize giving begins once the last runner has crossed the finish line to ensure no winners miss out due to early departures. Full race results will later be posted on Dumfries Harriers’ Facebook page, providing a comprehensive record of achievements and milestones reached during this eventful day in August. Join us for an unforgettable run along the River Nith; it’s sure to leave you with cherished memories and a sense of accomplishment upon completion!
