Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival 2026 - 2-Person Relay, August 30th Lace up your running shoes and join us for the inaugural Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival's two-person relay on Sunday, August 30th. This unique event offers a half marathon route split into two legs, perfect for those who want to tackle part of the distance or simply enjoy cheering from the sidelines. The first leg, "Tap o' the Toun," covers approximately 6.2 miles with an elevation gain of about 151 feet. It winds through historic Kirkcaldy's charming streets and parks, including Beveridge Park where you'll start your journey at 10am sharp. The second leg, "Lang Toun Return," spans around 6.9 miles with a modest ascent of roughly 102 feet, starting from Dunnikier Park. This scenic route showcases Kirkcaldy's rich history and natural beauty, featuring Beveridge Park, Dunnikier Park, Ravenscraig Park, and the picturesque coastal path leading to Dysart. The race concludes at the newly refurbished Waterfront area with its flat measured mile track, ideal for a strong finish. Participants will experience diverse terrain including free hills, fast flats, and downhills that challenge runners while offering opportunities to chase personal bests (PBs). Both legs are run under UK Athletics Rules as part of Scottish Athletics permit events, ensuring fair play. The minimum age requirement is 16 years old on race day. For teams interested in joining the festivities, an Entry Central account will be necessary for registration. Entries open at 7pm on February 28th and can be transferred to another person before the closing date, though t-shirt changes are only possible up until July 21st. On race day, Leg 1 runners start from Beveridge Park while Leg 2 begins in Dunnikier Park near a water station. Parking is limited at both locations; participants should plan accordingly and use nearby car parks or public transport to reach the starting line on time. The event village in Beveridge Park will offer activities for all ages, including food stalls and entertainment areas where spectators can cheer runners across the finish line. Additionally, kids are invited to participate in a fun run that promises excitement and joy for young athletes. This year's Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival proudly supports Maggie’s Fife, celebrating their 20th anniversary with fundraising efforts aimed at supporting cancer patients and their families. Runners can create Just Giving pages to contribute towards this important cause. For more details on race day logistics such as number collection or parking arrangements, follow updates via the festival's website (www.kprf.run) and social media platforms leading up to August 30th.
