Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival 2026: Trail Race Edition August 29, 2026 The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is back for its seventh edition with an enthusiastic lineup of events designed to encourage runners and nature enthusiasts alike. The trail race event promises a scenic journey through the lush greenery surrounding Dunnikier Park in Kirkcaldy. This year’s trail race will take place on August 29, kicking off at 1pm within the picturesque grounds of Dunnikier Park. Participants can look forward to two laps covering approximately 5 kilometers each, winding through a diverse landscape that includes woodland trails and paths around the golf course perimeter. The route is designed to showcase the park’s natural beauty while providing an engaging challenge for runners. The terrain will vary from grassy meadows and tarmac tracks to soft trails and gravel pathways, making it essential for participants to choose appropriate footwear that can handle different surfaces comfortably. Organizers emphasize adherence to UK Athletics Rules, ensuring a fair and regulated race environment. The event is also sanctioned by Scottish Athletics with a minimum age requirement of 16 years. As a non-profit organization committed to inclusivity, we strive to keep entry fees as low as possible through the generous support of key sponsors who share our vision for accessible sports events. Detailed information on sponsors and privacy policies can be found at www.kprf.run. For parking, runners are advised against using Council, Golf Club or Oswald House car parks; instead, ample space is available in the nearby NHS Overflow Car Park just across a road from Dunnikier Park. Public transport options are also readily accessible for those preferring to avoid driving. Entry registration opens on March 31 at 7pm and can be managed through our website. Race transfers up until the closing date are permitted, though alterations to t-shirt preferences might not always be feasible depending on timing (final changes accepted by July 21). Race day will see marshals guiding participants throughout their journey while emphasizing safety guidelines. A two-hour time limit is set for the race, equating roughly to a pace of under 19 minutes per mile. Those expecting longer completion times are still welcome and will receive commemorative t-shirts and medals upon finishing. Details on number collection procedures leading up to the event can be found through our webpage updates or social media channels. For any inquiries regarding health and safety measures, transfers, refunds, or general information, please contact enquiries@kprf.run for prompt assistance. The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is proud to support Maggie’s Fife as an official charity partner, contributing towards their essential services in providing emotional, psychological, and social support to individuals affected by cancer. Your participation helps raise awareness and funds crucial to sustaining these vital community resources.
