Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival 2026 - A New Chapter 5k Race | August 29th The Kirkcaldy Parks Running Festival is set to make its debut with the addition of a brand-new 5k race, joining the established half marathon and trail events that have captivated runners for years. The festival will take place over two days in Dunnikier Park, offering participants an opportunity to explore the scenic parks around Kirkcaldy. The 5k route is designed as a loop within Dunnikier Park and its surrounding areas. Runners will start and finish at Race HQ located inside the park grounds. This course offers a mix of terrain including grass paths, tarmac roads, gravel trails, and soft woodland tracks that wind through gently undulating woodlands and around the golf course perimeter. Organized by a non-profit group committed to inclusivity, this event aims to keep entry fees as low as possible thanks to generous sponsorships. The race is sanctioned under UK Athletics Rules and managed in partnership with Scottish Athletics. Participants must be at least 12 years old on race day. Race Day Logistics: Parking will be available at the nearby NHS Overflow Car Park near Whytemans Brae, just a short road crossing from Dunnikier Park. To ensure accessibility for all park users and those requiring blue badge parking, we ask that no one parks in council or golf club car lots on race day. Entry to the event opens online on April 25th at 7 PM. Transfers of entries can be arranged between participants up until the closing date but require direct communication between individuals due to privacy regulations regarding banking details and personal information. Health & Safety: Safety is a priority for all runners, spectators, and volunteers alike. Runners are expected to follow marshal instructions throughout the race day. A strict time limit of one hour applies (approximately 19 minutes per mile), but those expecting longer times will still receive finisher medals upon completion. Official timing may not be available beyond this point. Charity Focus: This year, we're proud to partner with Maggie’s Fife as our official charity, celebrating their milestone anniversary in providing vital cancer support services for the local community since 2006. Participants are encouraged to raise funds and awareness by setting up a JustGiving page specifically for Maggie's during this special festival.
