Nairn Half Marathon 2026

The Nairn Highland Games Half Marathon, set to take place on Saturday, August 15th, 2026, at 12:30 pm, offers runners an unforgettable blend of scenic beauty and vibrant atmosphere. Organized by the dedicated team at Nairn Road Runners and sponsored by Wright Johnston & Mackenzie, this event is a highlight within the larger framework of the prestigious Nairn Highland Games.
The race begins and concludes in the heart of the main games arena, where runners will be greeted with the stirring sounds of massed pipes and drums as they cross the finish line. The course itself spans approximately half marathon distance, though it's important to note that due to its non-permanent nature, the exact measurement hasn't been officially determined.
Participants can anticipate a fast and flat route that winds through picturesque landscapes, including stretches along Nairn’s beautiful beach and bustling harbor before venturing out into open countryside. The course features four water stations strategically placed throughout, with ACTIVE ROOT energy drink available at each station to keep runners fueled and hydrated. Registration opens from 10:45 am to 12:00 pm on the day of the event near the Cricket Pavilion in The Links, Nairn. Online entries must be submitted by midnight on August 14th, and race time is strictly limited to a generous two hours and thirty minutes.
The Scottish Athletic rules prohibit the use of over-ear or in-ear headphones during the race; however, bone conduction headphones are permitted at runners' discretion. It's crucial that participants remain aware of their surroundings and be able to respond promptly to marshals’ instructions and emergency assistance as needed.
Changing facilities will be provided within the games changing tents, though no secure storage area for personal belongings is available during the race; items can be left in these areas at your own risk. Unfortunately, showering facilities are not offered post-race, but runners have easy access to Nairn’s beach just a short distance away.
