Rousay Lap 2026

The Rousay Lap, now in its 16th year, is a beloved half marathon that circles around the scenic Orkney island of Rousay. Organized by the Rousay, Egilsay & Wyre Development Trust, this event offers runners and walkers an unforgettable journey through breathtaking landscapes. Starting at midday from Doctors Brae, participants set off on a 13-mile route that winds its way around the island's coastline.
The race is not just about speed; it’s also about enjoying the stunning natural beauty of Rousay. Participants will pass by dramatic cliffs and rolling hills as they make their way along the main road encircling the island, offering views of the sea and distant islands. Cyclists can join in for a unique perspective on this scenic course.
The event welcomes athletes of all ages, with under-16s needing parental consent to participate and those under 12 requiring an adult companion throughout. All finishers will be greeted at The Space, near the pier, where they'll receive a certificate, medal, and beanie hat as tokens of their achievement. Refreshments are available for everyone who finishes by the cut-off time of 4:30 PM.
